SHINBUKAN NEWS

Serbia, November 2005

by Dr Ivica Zdravkovic

In November 2005 Shinbukan school has inaugurated a new assistant instructor in Chanbara and Kenjutsu, Srdjan Spasic from Pozarevac. With his help Shinbukan is now organized in two separated sections: one for jujutsu and one for kenjutsu. Shinbukan Jujutsu is taught on Tuesday and Friday evenings. Shinbukan Kenjutsu and Chanbara are taught on Wednesday and Saturday evenings. All classes are held in Sport Center Pozarevac.

To promote this new schedule, public demonstrations are given in local primary schools. Three presentations were conducted in front of over 1,000 pupils, who also participated in Kodachi (short sword) competitions! Winners were awarded with short swords and CDs with a Video Manual of Chanbara and Shinbukan Kenjutsu. The atmosphere during these demonstrations was unbelievable, and hundreds of pupils were testing their reflexes, timing and preciseness. Excellent demonstrations were given by the youngest Chanbara and Kenjutsu students Nikola, Nemanja and Ana.
