Sports Kenjutsu competition

On 25th February 2006. in organization of  Serbian Budo Council, the first National Budo Games took place in the Milenium Hall, in Vrsac. After opening speech made by Milan Vujasin, president of Serbian Budo Council, a minute of science was held  for tragic loss of Slobodan Saric,

There were 14 clubs from Belgrade, Petrovac, Kraljevo, Perlez, Pozarevac, Sabac, Smederevo, Vrsac with guests from Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. In total more than 150 competitors. There where competitions in Jujutsu kumite and Jujutsu kata in organization of Sport Jujutsu Association of Serbia. First Sport Kenjutsu competition was held  in organization of Sport Chanbara Association of Serbia with following rules:

Soft-padded sword is used (called Choken, same as ones used in Chanbara). Also, a headgear with face protection was mandatory. Sword must be held with both hands all the time (traditional Japanese style) and most of techniques must be performed with this double grip. In addition, competitors are allowed to perform leg cuts (Ashi) and stabs (Tsuki) with one hand, but immediately after that they must grab the sword with both hands. Ippon (2 points) is awarded for strikes to the head (Men), neck and torso (Do), and also for stabs to torso or head (Tsuki). Wazari (1 point) is given for strikes ("cuts") to hands (Kote) and legs (Ashi). For mutual strikes both competitors receive as many points as the value of their technique. Match ends when one competitor gets 6 points. If no one scores 6 points within 3 minutes of fight, the rule of "sudden death" ('golden point") is be applied.

            Competition went in a friendly atmosphere without any injury or incident, lead by chief referee Srdjan Spasic and assistant referees Igor Kesic, Srdjan Ilic & Adriana Barshi.
