The United States Taekwondo Alliance held its Inaugural Meeting and Championship tournament on November 20, 2004 at the University of Nevada, Los Vegas. This event was hosted by Grand Master Joon P. Choi and was an official qualifier for the 2005 Martial Arts World Games V
Dr. Robert Braff and Dr. Kevin D. Hufford were invited to present a SANRYUDO Iaido Seminar and to be appointed to serve as advisors to the new organization in an effort to develop bridges to the non-Taekwondo arts world at large.
There were 24 students in attendance at the one and a half hour seminar. The students learned and practiced the first four San-Ryu-Do waza that contain shinchoku giri (vertical downward cut), hidari and migi kesa giri (left and right downward diagonal cut), morote tsuki (two-handed straight thrust) and hidari mayoko giri (left horizontal cut).
Following this Dr. Braff and Dr. Hufford taught Shiho no kata (kata of 4 directions) to the class. In this kata the first four waza are performed in sequence to the North, East, South, and West directions.
The seminar was well received
by the 24 participants and the audience of 150 plus spectators. At
the end Dr. Braff and Dr. Hufford were recognized and thanked by G.M. Choi
and G.G.M. Kae B. Chun a visiting Master from San Marcos, CA.
